SAY BYE TO A DRY SCALP!
Don't you hate it when you're out with your gal pals and you scratch your scalp and feel it flake ? You try shake it out subtly, but you don't know if it fell on your clothes or further down the hair strand ? We've all been there at some point... several times even ! And we're here to clear things up for you... it's normal ! But you can put some preventatives in place to help stop a dry scalp.
So what's actually causing our lovely heads to be flaky ? The correct term is dandruff and it can come in all sorts of forms. Small itchy flakes of dry scalp, large non itchy flakes... the list goes on and on. But it's all the same thing ! Experts say that dandruff appears as white flakes on the scalp when your scalp produces too much oil. Usually when you have dry skin, don't wash your hair enough, have a diet change or stress, your scalp produces more oil to compensate any dryness or irritations in moods / diets. As a result, yeast will build up on your scalp, causing those white flakes. I bet you're all feeling itchy now..
WASH YOUR HAIR.
Get your hair into a routine. Don't let it go unwashed for a week and then wonder why your have flake build up... Wash your hair 2-3 times a week, and if you notice that it's building up faster, wash more often until it settles down again. As for your shampoo, the good old supermarket brands just won't do! So try invest into a targeted shampoo for dandruff, (we will be coming out with one in the future)!
CARBS & SUGARS.
Wow what a heading to fall in love with. Well we're not saying to cut them out altogether because that would be crazy! But to consider cutting back. Both carbs and sugars at a high intake contain the perfect festering environment for yeast ! That's why sometimes when you go away and you don't watch what you eat, you lack some of those good hair days.
Other than switching up your shampoo for a targeted one, have you tried a scalp treatment? There are many at the chemist, or if you're looking for more of a natural remedy try; tea tree oil, peppermint oil or aloe vera extract. Apply 30 mins before you wash your hair so that it can really rustle up those dry flakes and then you can wash them out. Our Jojoba oil with Mint serum can work some magic in this case too ;)
