What's The Best Shower Temp For Hair ?
There's nothing better than having a nice hot shower then jumping between the sheets to settle down for the night, maybe with some popcorn and a movie, a good book or a scroll sesh on your phone.. sometimes we just crave that feeling! However do you think that having a cold shower would give you that same feeling? The same sense of comfort? The reason why we bring this up is because showering at different temperatures has different benefits you ought to know.
Who doesn't like a nice steamy shower where you feel all your pores opening up and cleaning out. Hot water is also very good for your scalps pores and cuticles, because as they open, all the excess oil and grime wash away leaving you with a nice clean head of hair. But too hot is no good. Having your shower water too hot for a prolonged amount of time will also strip your hair of all its natural oils it still needs. Leaving it dry and open to damage.
Let's be real. There isn't much.. actually nothing, appealing about a cold shower. Cold showers can be pretty uncomfortable, but do have some hair benefits. By turning your taps to cold, your hair cuticles close up pretty quickly, leaving your hair shinny and frizz free when you dry it. This sounds amazing right? Who doesn't want frizz free hair! Hmm but then again it wouldn't be as clean as it would with hot water.
Ahhh the perfect medium? Pretty much! We recommend showering in warm water to open up your pores / cuticles and cleanse properly. Once you have finished your shower routine, turn the tap to a cooler temperature or cold for 15-30 seconds to wash through your hair and close up your cuticles. This will ensure that your hair has had a decent wash, and will maintain less frizz. The more frequently you do this with your shower routine, the better your hair will respond.
Hot Tips: Use a microfibre towel to soak up all the moisture from your hair before blow drying it. Also use a finishing serum to seal, protect and nourish your hair.
We actually have the perfect serums for that... ;)
