    I’m new to Kus, what should I start with?

    To begin your Kus journey we would recommend starting with the Hydrate Shampoo & Conditioner.

    As you progress, perhaps consider replacing the conditioner every second/third time with the Frizz Slayer Hair Mask in your wash day routine and then also include the Kus Spritz and Serum in your styling routine.

    If your locks are curly or wavy, we would also recommend using the Kus Curls Cream in your styling routine.

    In addition to the Kus products, we would suggest using some of our tools to complement the hair care products.

    Firstly, we would recommend the Microfibre hair towel –
    If you leave hair wet for too long, the stretch in the hair itself can change the cuticles, leaving them bent and raised. Rubbing the hair with a regular towel to dry can cause damage to the cuticles through friction, and if you blast with too much heat, this can cause damage too. When cuticles are damaged the hair becomes frizzy. Hair needs to dry quickly without stretch, rub or heat which is exactly what wrapping the hair in the Microfibre Hair Towel will achieve.

    Next would be using one of our sandalwood combs or bamboo paddle brush, dependant on your hair type requirements.

    My ends are really dry and snapping, what product can fix this problem?

    From experience, when hair or ends are dry, you could try using leave-in treatments (conditioners, serums) to help keep your locks nourished throughout the day, and also use a deep nourishing hair mask when washing.

    However, if hair is splitting or snapping, a cut is best, so the split doesn’t travel too far up your hair shaft.

    My curly dry hair keeps snapping on the ends when I brush it, what can I do?

    Curly hair tends to be drier than other hair types because it’s much harder for the natural oils your scalp produces to travel down to the ends of your curly strands, hence causing dry ends and breakage.

    Your curly hairs need lots of moisture and deep conditioning all over, not just the ends, to restore moisture & hydration and repair the thirsty strands. 

    Our suggestion would be to wash with a hydrating shampoo, apply a deep conditioning mask and style with a leave-in conditioning cream to assist with bringing that moisture back to your curls.

    In relation to brushing, our recommendation would be to definitely use a gentle brush/comb in the shower to distribute your conditioner or mask evenly through your curls. You don’t want any hard-bristle brushes anywhere near your wet curls as that will stretch the elasticity of your curls to breaking point, whilst dry brushing can cause fluffiness and also the breaking point stretch!

    Can I use your products on my extensions?

    Yes, you sure can.

    What are the fragrances in your products made of?

    The parfum/fragrance in our products are derived from a single or a mix of either natural, plant based or organic ingredients. We 100% do not use any preservatives from the isothiazolinone family for our parfums/fragrances.

    Our manufacturer is Australian Certified Organic (ACO), so we can be confident and proud of what Kus creates to formulate and manufacture all our hair care products.

    For example, the curl creams “scent” is kaffir lime so the "fragrance" has been derived from limes etc so for the manufacturing process they need to ensure it can co-exist with the remaining ingredients in the formula.

    Does Kus have a clarifying shampoo?

    Technically no…as clarifying shampoos traditionally have harsher/higher concentrations of more aggressive surfactants (cleansers) and less conditioning ingredients compared to daily shampoos….

    However, double shampooing with the mild cleansers in our Hydrate shampoo in conjunction with using our scalp scrubber, will definitely help lift the residue buildup, removing the dirt and oil by breaking it down to ensure the nourishing benefits of the shampoo are imparted in your hair and scalp.

    Are there harsh chemicals?

    Short answer? No. And we’re very intentional about that.

    At Kus, we believe less is more. Our formulas are thoughtfully minimal, made with ingredients that are naturally derived or organic wherever possible, and only what your hair actually needs. No harsh fillers, no unnecessary nasties, no “quick-fix” ingredients that make your hair look good for five minutes and then pay the price later.

    Do any products contain protein?

    The only product in our collection that contains protein is our Frizz Slayer Hair Mask, which includes Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein and Hydrolyzed Rice Protein.

    A little bit of science behind them; the hydrolysis process breaks these proteins down into much smaller molecules. This is essential because it allows them to penetrate the hair cuticle, where they can reach and bind to keratin (the protein your hair is naturally made of).     At Kus we are very serious that our hair care products manufacturer has quality and ethical work and production practices to ensure our products include the best ingredients and are all high performing. For this reason, we have partnered with a local Australian business to formulate and manufacture all our hair care products.

    We are proud that they are 100% carbon neutral and hold many manufacturing certifications, in particular they are Australian Certified Organic (ACO), so the organic ingredients in our products are actually legally Certified as Organic.

    Is your product packaging recyclable?

    Yes! Our bottles, jars, tubes, lids, caps, pumps are all recyclable. 

    Our focus is to use recyclable material where possible and continue to look at ways to reduce our carbon footprint. For this reason, we choose our packaging supplier carefully - and have partnered up with a local Australian business with a mission to provide packaging that will help improve their global footprint and sustainability. This is done by being committed to reducing their environmental impact by making conscious, business decisions to utilise recycled or recyclable packaging and using biodegradable packaging to name a few. Their main focus is to produce products that can be used repeatedly resulting in packaging products that reduce waste and are non-toxic to humans and the environment.     Are your shipping boxes and packaging recyclable?

    They sure are!

    The custom-made boxes used to package our customer orders are a fully recyclable cardboard material. The internal tissue used is also recyclable and the peanut fillers are fully biodegradable – checkout the video on our Instagram page.

    Is your business cruelty free?

    At Kus we are proud to confirm that all our hair care products and tools are cruelty free. This means that none of our products or the ingredients we use have been tested on animals.

    Are all your products vegan?

    I forgot to use my discount code; can you change my order to include it?

    Sorry no, Kus Culture® will not be held responsible for a customer failing to input a discount code during any online order/and or promotion.

    I used the wrong code, or typed it incorrectly, can you change my order to fix it?

    Sorry no, if a code is applied incorrectly, Kus Culture® cannot change your order nor refund the discounted amount missed.

    Can I redeem my gift card for cash/credit?

    Discount codes are not transferable or redeemable for cash or credit.

    Can I use multiple discount codes on one order?

    Only one discount code is permitted per order.

    I received a discount code via email, but it has expired; can I still use it?

    How soon will my order be delivered?

    All orders will be dispatched from our warehouse for delivery usually between 1-2 business days, however during public holiday periods and sales this may take slightly longer.

    Orders are processed and shipped from Cairns, Queensland so we follow any QLD Public Holidays.

    I have placed an order but haven’t received a confirmation yet?

    Once you click on the “checkout” button, your order has been transmitted to us, so you will receive, by return email, an order confirmation.
    If you do not receive a confirmation email within 24 hours of placing your order, please contact info@kusculture.com.

    When your order has been shipped, you will receive another email with your tracking number to follow your delivery.

    How can I check the status of my order?

    How long does shipping take?

    Shipping times are a guideline and subject to change.

    You may experience slightly longer delivery times during peak sale periods, due to wild weather, or due to other postal service delivery issues that are unforeseen or unavoidable events beyond our reasonable control.

    All Australian online orders via standard shipping, are shipped via Australia Post and anticipated to be delivered within 3-7 business days for QLD, VIC, NSW and 7- 10 business days for SA, WA, TAS, NT & ACT.

    International orders are also shipped via Australia Post and delivery times are approximately 1-3 weeks, but will vary depending on your specific delivery address. For more accurate delivery times and estimations, please check your order tracking number.

    Do you ship overseas?

    Yes to New Zealand only at the moment (USA has been temporarily disabled).

    All orders are shipped via Australia Post and expected to be delivered within 5-20 business days, depending on your location.

    If international orders are subject to import duties and taxes, these are liable to be paid by the customer, and are not included in the cost of your order or in the shipping charge.

    What are the shipping costs/fees?

    • Australian Orders - FREE Standard domestic shipping for orders $100 and over, otherwise a flat rate of $9 will be applied at checkout. 
    • New Zealand Orders - FREE Standard international shipping for orders AUD120 and over, otherwise a flat rate of AUD25 will be applied at checkout.
    • USA Orders - temporarily disabled.

    Does purchasing a gift card contribute to my minimum spend for free shipping?

    Can I cancel my order?

    Once orders are placed, they are not able to be cancelled.

    I forgot to update my new address on my order, what do I do?

    In the event you have incorrectly entered your address please reach out to  info@kusculture.com to update the information. As all orders and shipping labels are automated, we cannot guarantee that our online orders team will be able to intercept the order prior to it being dispatched but will try our best.

    Please ensure the correct post codes are entered and if you are in an office building, please add your company name to avoid your package being sent back to us.

    Kus Culture® will not be held responsible for incorrect details entered at the time of ordering online, including an incorrect delivery address.

    Can I redirect my order to a different address?

    Once your order has been processed & dispatched, we are unable to make any changes to the shipping address. If your package returns to us due to an incorrect address, we will notify you via email. You will then need to pay for shipping for the package to be re-sent to you.

    I received a wrong item in my delivery, what do I do?

    If there are any discrepancies in your order when the products are delivered to you, you should note the nature of the discrepancy, if possible, on the delivery notice, and sign the notice. If there is a problem with the package inside, we require that you document it with photos and send to info@kusculture.com for further investigation.

    I received a damaged/faulty item in my order, what do I do?

    If the products have been damaged in delivery, we require that you document it with photos, same day as delivery, and send an email to info@kusculture.com with your order number, full name, and photo documents. A review will be made in 48 hours, and we will email you back our next actions. 

  • RETURNS & REFUNDS

    I changed my mind; can I get a refund if I return my order?

    We do not offer refunds or returns:
    • For change of mind, free gifts, promotional products, or where the discount applied was 20% or greater.
    • For undelivered or returned-to-sender orders resulting from reasons such as an incorrect delivery address, failure to collect from the post office, or other circumstances outside our control. In such cases, you may be required to pay for redelivery or forfeit the order.

    Can I get a refund on a faulty item received in my order which I have not used?

    Yes, in accordance with Australian Consumer Law, we are pleased to offer a replacement or refund for any unopened and unused item(s) that are found to be faulty. Where required by law, we will meet our obligations under the ACCC or similar legislation, which may include providing a replacement (subject to stock availability) or issuing a refund once the faulty item has been returned and assessed.

    If approved, your refund or replacement will be processed within 7 business days. Refunds will be issued to the same payment method used for the original purchase.

    I purchased a Kus product from one of your stockists and it’s faulty, what do I do?

    We are unable to accept returns or assume liability for damaged or faulty goods in the following circumstances:
    • If the product was purchased through a third-party retailer or stockist.
    • If there are visible signs of misuse, damage, or alteration.

    What form of payment do you accept?

    We accept payment by PAYPAL, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Shop Pay, After Pay, JCB or Credit card (Amex, Visa, Mastercard).

    Is my payment data safe with you?

    Our store, kusculture.com, is hosted on Shopify Inc. They provide us with the online e-commerce platform that allows us to sell our products and services to you.

    Your data is stored through Shopify’s data storage, databases, and the general Shopify application. They store your data on a secure server behind a firewall.

    Your purchase transaction data is stored only as long as is necessary to complete your purchase transaction. After that is complete, your purchase transaction information is deleted.

    All direct payment gateways adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.
